  • How do the thru axle adapters work?
The adapter kit includes two inserts which sit in the dropouts of your fork. The first insert screws into the fork where the 15mm thru axle would usually and has a threaded inner diameter that allows the 12mm thru axle to fasten. The second insert is simply a push fit into the bored hole in the other dropout, an inbuilt O ring prevents slippage. These two components act as diameter reducers within the dropouts of your fork to allow you to use a 12mm thru axle instead of a 15mm. The final component is a custom manufactured 12mm thru axle, unique to each of our kits and developed with simplicity, weight saving and security in mind. Compatible with any 12mm wheelset.
  • How do I install a thru axle adapter?
The push fit plain insert goes into the bored hole in your fork, an inbuild O ring keeps it in place. The threaded insert requires a park tool SPA-2 or equivalent 2.3mm pin spanner to tighten it into the fork. Please bare in mind that the flange MUST go on the OUTSIDE of the fork, this is to maintain the correct rotor alignment and hub clearance. The threaded insert can be installed with the application of a small amount of liquid threadlocker. Or, both inserts can use a dab of grease to prevent seizing. The thru axle is installed with a standard 6mm hex allen key.
  • Will the adapters work on any bike?
We stock a huge range of adapters compatible with nearly any 15mm fork. If you cant find an adapter that looks to be compatible with your bike on the site then please get in touch via the form on our home page. We have access to a large variety of adapter kits and in most cases are able to provide something to suit your needs.
  • What are the adapters made from?
We manufacture our adapters using a CNC process for the highest precision and quality control using a high strength aluminium alloy. Typically our kits allow weight saving over a standard 15mm thru axle.
  • What if I cant get the threaded insert to screw in?
Sometimes this happens and it is tricky to get the threaded insert to purchase with the threads of your fork and screw in. Usually it is only excess paint blocking the threads and this can be cleared in two ways. Using the original 15mm thru axle, take out your front wheel and proceed to tighten it into the fork. Overtighten the axle by a couple of turns so it is just protruding outside the edge of the fork. This will cause the paint in the end threads to be cleared by the 15mm axle. Repeat with turns back and forth as necessary. Using a stanley knife blade or similar, carefully scrape the paint out of the end threads. This should allow the insert to purchase. If 1 and 2 fail, the best thing would be to do a light pass through with an M15 tap. Your local bike store should be able to do this for you, if not, please get in touch.
